Description & Methodology Surveys
AIACA conducts surveys as a method of collecting
information about characteristics, behaviors, attitudes, or
perceptions of the people working with the Indian craft
sector. Most of these surveys are questionnaires or
structured interviews, administered by mail, telephone or
completed at the site, requiring a specific set of
questions, appropriate instructions and a carefully
constructed data collection instrument. The surveys are
conducted within the Indian geographical locations where the
handicrafts that people are making are linked to their
livelihood. There are two kinds of surveys undertaken -
baseline & comparative. A baseline study is done by AIACA at
the beginning of any intervention while a comparative study
is undertaken after 3 years of completing the intervention
based on various parameters.
Case Studies
AIACA case
studies typically examine the interplay of all variables in order to provide
as complete an understanding of a situation as possible. This type of
comprehensive understanding is arrived at through an in-depth description of the
entity being evaluated, the circumstances under which it is operating, the
characteristics of the people involved in it, and the nature of the community in
which it is located. This also involves interpreting the meaning of demographic
and descriptive data such as cultural norms, community values, ingrained
attitudes, and motives.
Best Practices
It is a process, technique, or innovative use of resources (technology,
equipment, personnel, & data) that has resulted in outstanding and measurable
improvement in the operation or performance of a system. This best practice will
have demonstrated success by significantly and measurably improving such factors
as cost, data quality, provider participation, coverage rates, integration with
other health care, ease of use, compliance with standards, or functionality.
Management Information System (MIS)
Management Information System (MIS) is a tool AIACA uses to gauge the outcomes
of various programs & interventions done over a period of time by its subgroups
like ESP, Craftmark, and Research departments. Management Information System
(MIS) is also a way to judge the internal and external impact on the craft
sector as a whole. This study is usually based on different derivatives like
Financial, Legal, Administrative, Functional, and Technological categories.
