Summary of Responsibilities and Benefits
Please note that AIACA’s activities focus on policy issues and other initiatives designed to strengthen the sector as a whole and to develop new livelihood models that facilitate the production and sale of crafts, and help enhance the standard of living of craft workers.
- Member organizations are expected to actively participate in initiatives of AIACA, especially by participating in its policy forums and discussions; and by helping to delineate policy issues that AIACA should focus on.
- AIACA membership shall act as a forum for frequent interactions amongst existing organizations with similar interests in the crafts sector. AIACA will organize policy workshops and discussions where each member shall be entitled to participate.
- AIACA will assist member organizations in finding information relating to the crafts sector and in taking action on issues facing crafts clusters. Examples of such assistance we have provided to members in the past two years includes locating suppliers of dying equipment; locating and helping members to hire tax consultants, export consultants and retail store designers; finding details of government schemes; and assisting members in taking up local problems in crafts clusters with the relevant government authorities. Please note that we do not take up cases on behalf of individual organizations or businesses, only issues that affect a crafts cluster or the sector as a whole.
- Under the Craftmark Initiative, AIACA shall provide assistance to its member organizations facing limitations in terms of marketing, credit access, and other technical inputs, provided that they are committed to improve their product quality and production systems as per the demands of the market.
- The Craftmark Initiative is a certification trademark and has a separate application procedure. Membership in AIACA does not automatically guarantee use of Craftmark.
