The Enterprise Support Program has been working with
craft groups involved in diverse traditional craft
practices, promotion of livelihood activities, and at
varying stages of enterprise growth.
Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) |
The Chakhesang Women Welfare Society was started in 1976 in the Phek
district of Nagaland. The society works in 91 villages with over a 1000
women artisans with the aim of improving the living conditions of the
Chakhesang community.

The Covenant Centre for Development (CCD) |
The Covenant Centre for Development (CCD) was started in 1988 with the
intention of working for the betterment of street children in Madurai
district of Southern Tamil Nadu. CCD has promoted several community
based enterprises. It is in the process of reviving a handloom unit in
the region that is currently working with 10 weavers.

Green Earth |
Green Earth was started by a graphic designer from National Institute of
Design (NID) Ahmedabad to help revitalize Indian handicrafts so that it
can become a viable income source for village-based artisans. Green
Earth works with master artisans and highly skilled craftspeople in
eastern India, particularly West Bengal.

Jan Sandesh is a charitable organization operating in a slum area of
Delhi and provides training, jobs and income to the needful women and
adolescents it employs. Jan Sandesh currently produces recycled products
for worldwide export, and is working rapidly towards expanding its

Kadam India |
Kadam is a Society working works with women and youth communities to
create a conducive, self-sustaining environment within the villages to
reverse the migration of youth to urban towns. Kadam Kolkata is setting
up a Crafts Ashram to provide a learning centre locally to secure
livelihood for women and youth in West Bengal. The project that
integrates technology, nature and people aims to tap over 600 villages
in the Belda region of West Bengal.

Mura Collective is a handloom based organization involved in weaving,
shibori, and block printing. The organization aims to develop clusters
in the Himalayan region. Mura has identified villages and is setting up
the entire operations with necessary forward and backward linkages to

Ltd. to promote and provide better livelihood opportunities for the
Meghwal community weavers. Currently the organization is working with 17

In collaboration with Artisan Microfinance Private Limited and the Royal
Government of Bhutan, AIACA conducted a feasibility study to explore
possibilities of forming a Community Owned Company (COC) with focus on
the following crafts genres: Handlooms, Embroidery, Metal casting, Cane
& Bamboo and Wood turning.

Orissa Study |
Under the engagement with Artisan Microfinance Private Limited, ESP
conducted a feasibility study in Orissa identified clusters in four
locations within the state around crafts genres - Bhubaneswar, Cuttack,
Puri and Sambalpur: Handlooms, Brass and Metal wares, Sikki Craft, Pipli
Appliqué and Ikkats (Yarn tie-resist Dying).
