INTACH Willow Wick Workshop

The ESP team conducted a 15-day willow wicker skill-upgradation workshop for INTACH J&K's clusters in to the willow wicker artisans at Vasik Nag district, Jammu and Kashmir. The artisans were trained on how to work with willow wicker by splitting it into thin strips using traditional tools like chishool and del machine. They were taught on how to make square and oval bases for different product categories. Artisans also learnt how to weave the base truck and how to weave the ends into a single or double plate. Training on various aspects like finishing of the products was also imparted which resulted in significant skill improvement.
